Hello Everyone,
I want to publicly recognize our high school students for efforts on Thursday morning. At 8:15, all students went into the L&G gym to take the winter STAR360 assessments in reading and math. They were silent and focused, working their best to show their knowledge.
The preliminary results are awesome! In grades 9, 10, and 11, the number of students who showed proficiency in reading and math doubled. Please take a moment to celebrate with your children their successes.
At Windham Central Supervisory Union (WCSU), we use the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). It is founded on the concept that all students will receive universal instruction. Based on assessment data, some students will receive additional layered supports as needed. Layered supports are flexible, provided by a variety of educators, and are planned based on identified student needs.
Next weekend is our annual Hopes for Hope fundraiser. Proceeds of the event go to three scholarships and a donation to the American Cancer Society. Students and faculty are encouraged to wear pink on Friday for our Pep Rally. Tammy will be sending out more information in the coming days. We look forward to celebrating with you. See you there.
Next week, we will conduct an options-based drill in which students will discuss how they would respond in an emergency involving an intruder.
