Hello Everyone, 

Monday May 11 at 6:00 pm there is a public hearing to discuss and provide voters information on Article I. 

Article I reads: Shall the voters of the school district approve the school board to expend $15, 062,658 which is the amount the school board has determined to be necessary for the ensuing fiscal year. The West River Education District estimates that this proposed budget, if approved, will result in per pupil education spending of $16, 162, which is (.83%) higher than per pupil education spending for the current year. 

On Wednesday, May 13 a revote of the FY27 Budget will be by Australian Ballot. The polling locations open at different time and close at 7:00 pm. 

Saturday, May 16th the Prom will be at the Newfane Union Hall. Immediately after Thrives has organized a post prom party.

Townshend Town Hall 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Windham Town Office 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.




Upon closing of the polls, the ballots will be delivered to Townshend Town Hall to be commingled and
counted by local town election officials who shall transmit the voting results to the Clerk of the West
River Modified Union Education District, who will then tabulate and report the final results for the
District.

Informational Hearing

Said persons and voters are further notified and warned of a public informational hearing on Monday,
May 11, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Pursuant to 17 V.S.A. §2680(g), the hearing is to discuss and provide voters
information on Article 1. Voters and interested persons can access and participate in the meeting in
person at L&G or remotely by using this link:

Prom Parent Meeting & Prom After Party

Join us on May 13th, at 6:30pm for the Parent Prom Info Night at L&G in A3 for more information on hosting safe celebrations, why it matters, and how to have open, meaningful conversations with your teens. 
To help provide a fun, safe space for celebration, we invite all students attending Prom to continue the fun with the Starry Night After Party hosted by West River Valley Thrives and WRED OST. This free event offers a welcoming environment with:
  • Great food - including a candy buffet and fun drinks!
  • Karaoke
  • Cornhole tournament
  • Photo booth with polaroids
  • Games, activities, and more
  • Chances to win BIG raffle prizes!
The event begins immediately after prom ends, is a short walk from the Newfane Hall, and runs until 1:00 AM, giving students a safe and engaging place to continue the celebration with friends in a substance-free setting. Encourage your teen to attend! Come to Parent Prom Info Night to learn more.

Hats Off Performance

L&G Players will be doing their annual Hats Off performances June 4th and 5th at 7 pm, and June 6th at 2:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to join, and we will be having an informational meeting about Hats Off on Friday, May 1st, during middle school lunch/high school flex in Dutton gym.

 

Windham Bus

There will not be a Windham Bus on Wednesday, May 20th.

Students can use the Townshend Country Store bus stop at the bottom of Windham Hill. The morning pick up is 7:20 and afternoon drop off is at 3:05.
